Open House Brno 2018 in FNUSA-ICRC

The International Clinical Research Center (FNUSA-ICRC) achieved a notable success during the historically first Open House Festival Brno on April 14. More than 400 guests from Brno and surrounding areas paid a visit to the premises of FNUSA-ICRC. People could see some of the meeting rooms and selected laboratories, including a room with unique Faraday cage.

Meeting of Attractive Region Working Group

FNUSA-ICRC hosted a meeting of representatives from the region, cities, universities and research institutes, innovative companies, and other organizations involved in supporting research, development and innovation in the South Moravian Region. It was a meeting of Attractive Region Working Group, one of the 5 Regional Innovation Strategy groups of the South Moravian Region, initiatives which support the competitiveness of the region. The session started with a block of presentations and discussion about marketing of the region. At the end of the event, attendants were invited to see 4 of FNUSA-ICRC laboratories - sleep laboratory, clinical pharmacology unit, center of biomedical engineering, and preventive program of Kardiovize Brno 2030.
Jan Fric’s Publication in Nature Communications

Congratulations to Jan Fric, Principal Investigator of Cellular and Molecular Immunoregulation Group (CMI) of FNUSA-ICRC, for his last publication in Nature Communications.
The article describes the essential role of Nuclear Factor of Activated T Cell in myeloid cells for maintenance of gut homeostasis. Human relevance of this finding is being the major research topic of Cellular and Molecular Immunoregulation group.
Gaspar Pinto Awarded the Best Poster Prize

Gaspar Pinto was awarded the Best Poster Prize at a VIB Science Conference “Applied Bioinformatics in Life Sciences” (2nd edition). The event took place on 8-9 March 2018 in Leuven, Belgium. The poster co-authored by Ondrej Vavra, Jiri Filipovic, David Bednar and Jiri Damborsky, Principal Investigator of FNUSA-ICRC research group Protein Engineering, was titled Screening the binding trajectory of two datasets of inhibitors via tunnels and channels using novel software CaverDock. Congratulations!
Meeting of FNUSA-ICRC and Mayo Clinic

Meeting of FNUSA-ICRC top management and several PIs and Mayo Clinic Scottsdale, Arizona and Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota (USA) representatives was held from March 1 to March 2 2018.
The activities and results achieved in 2017 were presented, financial commitments and project plans were discussed. Further, extension of collaboration covering the Biostatistics was designed. Future collaboration involving more FNUSA-ICRC teams was also considered.
