World Stroke Day: Remember its symptoms with the Act FAST team at KJM Brno on Kobližná
Stroke is the second leading cause of death worldwide and may not be fully recognizable at first glance. Stop by the Jiří Mahen Library in Brno on World Stroke Day, October 29, and learn how to identify a stroke using the FAST method.
Stroke has three main symptoms referred to by the FAST method. These are a drooping corner of the mouth (Face), sudden inability to move an arm or leg (Arm), and sudden difficulty speaking (Speech). The letter T stands for Time, as in the case of a stroke, seconds can determine the outcome for the affected individual.
Visit the library for a thirty-minute interactive lecture to learn how the symptoms of a stroke manifest and how to respond appropriately. As the saying goes, ‘hard training makes for easy combat.’
The interactive lecture will take place twice, at 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM in the Small Hall on the 5th floor. The event is suitable for all age groups, and the program will also include a quiz where participants can win interesting prizes. From 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, feel free to stop by the Act FAST awareness booth in the library atrium for more information.
The Act FAST initiative (www.actfast.cz) focuses on educating about strokes. Our goal is to inform the public—from elementary school students to seniors—about prevention, symptoms, and the correct response to a stroke, based on scientific findings. Come learn more with us and discover how to save a life.
